Happy five-year retire-versary to my fellow Navy shipmate, Captain Keith Moore, United States Navy (Ret).
His retirement ceremony on this day in 2020 was the only one I photographed that year—and likely one of the last public events in Northern Virginia before everything shut down.
In a typical year, I have the honor of capturing 7 to 10 military retirement ceremonies, but 2020 was different.
Many veterans retired without in-person ceremonies or had to celebrate virtually.
I’m very grateful I could document this moment for Keith—a visual reminder of his service and legacy.
Honoring military milestones through photography is my why, and it’s always a privilege.
