The United States Coast Guard's Eagle Tall Ship, also known as "America's Tall Ship", was built by the Germans in 1936. The U.S. received Eagle as a war reparation, and the Coast Guard re-commissioned it. Based out of New London, Conn., it serves the Coast Guard Academy cadets and incoming officers as a training vessel.
