J. Seward Johnson
“The Awakening,” is J. Seward Johnson Jr.’s 15-foot-high by 70 foot wide sculpture of a giant struggling to emerge from the earth, made in 1980 and located at National Harbor in Prince George's County, Maryland, USA, just outside the District of Columbia.
In July 2017, I was published on two pages of a new book commemorating the international sculptor, Seward Johnson.
I have supported author and poet, Doc Krinberg's recent novels with book covers for "Entwined" (June 2019) "Kindred" (August 2018), "The Winter Spider" (April 2018) and "The Deep Slumber of Dogs" (May 2017) Visit Doc Krinberg's work on Amazon.
When You're Called "Mommy". A novel by Dr Sophie Foster sharing her experiences of being a foster parent. Now on sale at Dr Sophie Foster Books.
In late 2016, I collaborated with my friend and Naval Academy classmate to design the book cover of her new novel. She gave me a quick description of what she wanted, and I raced out to find the perfect image to convey her vision.
Author's vision: "The book is about my experience with the foster care system, and the feeling I'm hoping to convey with the book cover is hopelessness/emptiness/despair with a glimmer of hope. I envision a biracial child (girl), disheveled, in one hand a plastic bag of clothes, in the other hand a stuffed animal. Picture can be from any angle, front, side, or back (I'm thinking back, so face can be obscure). Primary picture in black/white/gray but stuffed animal in vibrant color."
The book was finally released February 2018.

Rosemary Feit Covey, Artist, Alexandria VA
I provided photographic support to my friend and talented artist Rosemary Covey. Her art studio (#224) is located in the Torpedo Factory in Old Town, Alexandria. The series of pictures you see here are from a photo shoot showcasing Rosemary's vision called "The 0 [zero] Project" which at the time of the shoot was on display in the Torpedo Factory elevator.
Thematically, 0 expresses the voicelessness we all often feel when confronted with some of our deepest concerns. The 0 Project offers a forum for viewers whose concerns are too subtle or too personal to be addressed in such a massive manner. It is a catalyst for conversation regardless of age, gender, race, political or social cause. The image is a reminder to respond to the world around us and that silence can be the equivalent of a silent scream. Fundamentally, it is a reminder that art is a vital mode of contemporary communication.
