Thanks for stopping by and welcome to my photography website.
My name is Laura.
There are three phrases that best describe me so much so, you'll find them on my business card:
Navy Veteran - Harley Rider – Photographer
I grew up in a military family being told, “you can do anything” and I have spent my entire adult life serving my country in uniform while living a "service before self" mindset.
While in the Navy I attended a predominately male college, threw myself out of perfectly good airplanes, dove to the depths of over 150 feet as a Navy Diver and influenced National Security-related decisions.
Well the parents did say “you can do anything if you put your mind to it.”
Somewhere in my military journey I developed a love for mentoring, leading and paying attention to the details. It only made sense once I discovered photography, it would be my gateway to seeing the world differently.
As a Veteran, I treasure capturing the sweeping vistas and gritty streets that define our amazing country, after all I did spend three decades protecting them.
As a Mother, I raised boys who think it’s completely normal their mother wore combat boots in different colors. Because of them, I’m passionate about those special moments that will never be repeated.
As a car and motorcycle geek, I’m thrilled about the art and beauty that lies within the sculpted lines of a vintage fender.
When I pick up a camera, all these passions collide. I find I can capture all of my personalities and translate them into a single image that makes you stop, look and say, “wow, you can do anything you put your mind to.”
I currently live in Alexandria, VA and service the DC metro area and Northern VA with unique photographic support to car shows/meet ups, local community events, small business websites, marketing needs, military ceremonies, family documentary, executive headshots and anything else you might need.

"Some may have noticed recent changes to my LinkedIn profile, among them the change to "transitioning to industry" status. I want to thank Laura Hatcher for her professional photo services and I endorse her to anyone who may be in need of photography services. Laura also recently transitioned into the private sector and had some great things to share with me during the photo session. I am also hiring Laura for my retirement ceremony. I have seen her work and it is impressive. Laura is extremely professional and turned a superb product to me quickly to update my profile." - Kevin Hanson, February 2019
"Laura recently created the most professional head shots for me that I've had in my 30 year career. Her creativity, artistic eye, and passion for meeting my needs as a client will lead me to her again for any photography needs. Her talents go well beyond studio work - photo books, book covers, events, and so much more. Give her a call - you will be glad you did!" - Julie Vida, January 2019
""Day" and "Night" calendars. Sounds odd, but this is what I currently have in possession. I met Laura last year at Alexandria Cars and Coffee. She was taking photos of cars and she asked if she can take a few shots of mines. After the shoot, she gave me her card and directed me inside the coffee shop were some of her photos were displayed on the walls. I quickly asked if she can take a few more photos and make a calendar of my car. When I received the calendar, I was so impressed, that I took it to work, so others could see it. Soon it became aware to me that I had to get her to do another because it attracted comments from my co-workers. So, that was in 2018. Now for my 2019 edition, I asked Laura to do a "night" shoot of my car using the US Capitol as a background. Those photos came out better that the 2018 calendar. I don't think that she can top another for 2020! These photos turned out so well, that she should be working for a magazine. Laura is amazing! Keep up the good work. -Percell Artis, November 2018
